About Us

One afternoon in 2003 a small group of friends met together with the newly appointed Zambian Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Ambassador Inonge Lewanika. “What can we do to help?” they asked. “How can we support Zambia and your efforts?” The conclusion was to establish Friends of Zambia, to encourage interest, exposure, and ultimately greater investment—both charitable and business—in Zambia.

Friends of Zambia is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization formed in 2003 by a group of business, civil society and philanthropic leaders. The mission of the Friends of Zambia is to promote knowledge and understanding of Zambia in order to encourage business investment and development, and support for education and welfare among Zambia's people.
