Virginia Austin Schubert
(Chair and Co-founder)
Virginia Austin Schubert is Co-founder & Chairman of the Board of the
Friends of Zambia. She is a committed international and community activist.
Mrs. Schubert lives in Washington DC with her husband Richard.
Currently she is a board member of the National Capitol Chapter of the American
Red Cross. She is immediate past chairman of the board of Women in Community
Service, Inc. and is Chairman of the Global Action Council of Heart to Heart
International. She is an executive coach for Executive Coaching Network and
a member of the Space Day Foundation Board of Directors.
Mrs. Schubert was Senior Vice President of the
Points of Light Foundation, Washington DC. In that role, she coordinated projects
with senior White House staff and developed over 200 corporate and nonprofit
partnerships for Colin Powell’s America’s Promise. She was founder
and chief executive of Family Matters, a national initiative to promote family
volunteering and is former President/CEO of the Association of Junior Leagues
International.
She founded Leadership OKC, has served as a board member of the National Association
of Community Leadership and has served on the board of numerous other local
and national organizations. Former governor Henry Belmon inducted her into
the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1989 especially recognizing her leadership in
community service locally and nationally.
